Emerge Ministries – www.emerge4unity.org

Emerge Ministries, Inc. is a 501c3 non- profit organization. Using our “Four Pillars”, we mobilize and empower the followers of Christ for evangelism through education, training and personal interaction. There are more than twenty different platforms of ministry to meet the needs of those we serve. Emerge partners with churches, religious organizations, community and government service providers, City Public Safety Offices, civic groups and businesses. We are witnessing a renewing of spirit in all these organizations and the individuals we serve.

Sonja and Mark assisted with western North Carolina rescue and recovery efforts in October after Hurricane Helene. They worked with Emerge and other medical volunteers to set up 3 urgent care medical clinics in Swanannoa to assist patients, many with no homes, and managing acute and chronic maladies.

Emerge Ministries partnered with Cragmont Assembly Camp and Retreat Center to house and feed volunteers, distribute meals to surrounding rescue centers, receive donated supplies, and continue to distribute to the community.

With no electricity or running water for several weeks, Emerge Ministries provided over 80,000 meals within the 1st month after the storm. While the initial efforts were focused on rescue and recovery, the rebuild phase will be prolonged likely over a 2-year period. These long-term disaster relief efforts are one part of ongoing prison, music, and homeless ministries ongoing nationally.

Immediately after Hurricane Helen moved through the southeast of the US, Samaritan’s Purse personnel were coordinating volunteers to start rescue, housing, and cleanup operations. These efforts expanded to repairing and rebuilding homes as appropriate. These efforts are continuing and expect to last 2 years.

Samaritans Purse 1

Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Samaritan’s Purse supports national and international disaster relief efforts with rescue, recovery, and rebuilding with support from volunteers and all monetary donations going to support the cause. After victims are safe from the immediate danger, critical provisions such as water, food, clothes, and shelter are provided. Rebuilding can take months to years to complete and is ongoing until the communities are thriving again.

Founded in 1970 by Bob Pierce, Samaritan’s Purse has focused on international missions, caring for those in greatest need while sharing the love of Jesus Christ. In 1973, Franklin Graham, son of Reverend Billy Graham, toured with Bob and later took over leadership of Samaritan’s Purse after Bob died of leukemia in 1978. Through over 40 years of earthquakes, hurricanes, wars, and famine, Franklin has led the ministry in following the Biblical example of the Good Samaritan all across the globe. God has blessed the organization under Franklin’s leadership, and the ministry has seen explosive growth.

Samaritan’s Purse stands ready to respond at a moment’s notice when disaster strikes, whether at home or abroad. Natural disasters can strike anytime, anywhere. Tornadoes, hurricanes, typhoons, floods, wildfires, and other disasters don’t discriminate. Men, women, and children from every walk of life can have their lives turned upside-down in an instant. Their needs are great and immediate: food and water, shelter and medical care, and a helping hand to start over again. Your prayers and support enable us to bring relief in Jesus’ Name.

Take Up Your Cross MinistriesInternational church missions are a key focus with great needs for new mission church and parsonage formation and construction. One such group, Take up Your Cross Ministries and the missionary Martinez Family, is purchasing land to build a church and has started construction of a parsonage in Coatzontitla, Mexico.

Take Up Your Cross Ministries 2For the past 3 years, my niece Lela and her husband Rufino Martinez have been studying at the seminary and working as international missionaries to this beautiful, mountainous area of Mexico, sharing the gospel with local communities. Needs are great as they raise money to buy land for and build a church building, and finish parsonage construction.

Ministry needs are great in this rural area of Mexico with limited access to churches, bibles, and trained missionaries sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
